25 Uses for Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar should be a staple in every home. It has a wide variety of uses and you can’t beat it as far as low price for health care!  ACV is anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial.

To aid internal health make this:
2 Tbsp ACV, 2 Tbsp Honey, 1 Cup Water
Drink 1-2X/day for two weeks on, two weeks off. Then maintain by drinking 3-4X/week thereafter. This is just what I recommend because I’m a believer in too much of anything isn’t usually the best.

1.       Prevents flu and stomach illness
2.       Dissolves kidney stones
3.       Detoxifies the body of heavy metals and toxins
4.       Regulates pH balance in the body
5.       Helps relieve nausea
6.       Helps relieve heart burn or chronic acid reflux
7.       Helps relieve asthmatics
8.       Helps relieve allergies
9.       Helps relieve gout
10.   Helps lower glucose levels in diabetics
11.   Helps weight loss by curbing appetite and breaking down fat
12.   Helps relieve migraines
13.   Helps relieve sinus pressure and infection
14.   Lowers blood pressure
15.   Lowers cholesterol
16.   Kills cancer cells or slow their growth
17.   Reduces inflammation, relieve arthritis

To aid external health:
Mix 50/50 ACV and Water
Appropriately apply with cotton ball, soak, or spray on affected area

18.   Gets rid of buildup on scalp
19.   Conditions hair and detangles
20.   Gets rid of fingernail or toenail fungus
21.   Works well to clear up fungal, bacterial, viral rashes
22.   Soothes bug bites
23.   Gets rid of warts (put ACV on cotton ball, cover with Band-Aid, leave on over night for 1 week)
24.   Balances pH in vagina, relieves yeast infection (douche with 1 tsp of ACV mixed with 2 cups water) Must rebalance good bacteria
25.   Helps reduce/prevent acne (don’t get in eye)

Drinking this recipe is a little like drinking beer or coffee for the first time. It’s an acquired taste. I love it now and enjoy it just as I would a cup of herbal tea. Applying ACV topically on infected areas can burn so be careful if you use on children, but don’t be scared to try it if diluted properly.
There are many more uses for Apple Cider Vinegar including pet care, garden care, bathroom, kitchen, and laundry care, and even automotive care! Get yourself a bottle or two or three so you always have it on hand. I buy Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. It is organic and contains “the mother” which is the powerhouse inside the bottle!

In the words of a mother

  1. What a great post. I love apple cider vinegar, too! I'd love for you to come and share your post and my healthy food/recipe swap on Wednesday.

    3. I use this for my scalp. I have naturally thick and coarse hair. First I shampoo, rinse, pour apple cider vinegar in my hair, apply hair conditioner, and then rinse. My hair comes out so soft. It removes dandruff and I don't have to thin out my hair much to my husband's delight.

    4. It's natural blood thinner too.

    5. Does it help control seborric dermatitis ? I have thiis problem and im trying to go natural

  2. I LOVE the instant jolt of energy I get when I add ACV to my tea! I also add a bit of coconut oil. mmmMMMmmm. However, my family thinks I'm absolutely nuts and they hate the smell...

    1. Haha Angie...the smell is something to overcome. Some people are real funny about it but like i said, if you can drink coffee and beer, you can drink this!

  3. It also soothes sunburns very well.

  4. For warts do you just use acv or do you mix with water?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would try a mix first to be on the safe side. Maybe try 60% ACV 40% Water. If it doesn't start turning the wart black then try higher ACV/Water ratio. Eventually working up to 100% ACV. It may burn and hurt but it will heal. Good luck!

    2. No, use it straight. Worked wonders for my son. If you have multiple warts, use it on the largest, should take out the rest once the biggest one is gone.

  5. Gets rid of hiccups when taken straight up. Works every time for me.

    1. ooooo...I did not know that. I'll have to keep that in mind for a friend that gets bad hiccups!

    2. Taken straight it can really do damage to your esophagus. You always need to be sure to take with water.

    3. I imagine it will get rid of most anything if you take it straight up! Drink it with water!

  6. I remember having my hair rinsed in vinegar, it also makes a great cleaner for tile floors.

  7. How does it work for pet care???

    ReplyDelete

    1. Fights off fleas and ticks, shines and cleans coat, helps with internal parasites if mixed with drinking water. That's a few. Just google it and I'm sure you'll find a lot more pet care tips! :)

    2. I use it on my dogs all the time. They suffer a lot from allergies in the grass so when they start to itch, lick and bite themselves I spray them with full strength ACV. Now it has to bite because they can lick some pretty mean sores but to tell you the truth I don't think they mind the bite at all. It's probably a relief from all the agony. I also spray them with ACV when they've had their bath, brush it so it gets down to the skin and just let it air dry. It's great!!!

      Delete
    3. I use it with my aging Shih Tzu who used to get UTI's all the time. I would add a little to her water or food and within a day or so, she would be better. Amazing stuff!

  8. For internal health, what about pill form?.....Is it still good?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not really. There was a study done in 2005 that showed the ingredients in the capsules actually didn't have some of the ingredients listed as well as some other problems with the pills. You will def get the best results from drinking it.

  10. My brothers travel some, to drill, so they have to eat fast-food sometimes when in a hurry. Not often, but when they feel they may have gotten food-poisoning, they immediately drink some ACV and it stops that "feeling" right away!

    1. That's awesome! It really does help the nausea.

  11. Should you drink the ACV with food on your stomach or on a empty stomach?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Drink it on an empty stomach. I usually drink it first thing in the morning or before meals. It will curb appetite and help with over-eating.

      Delete
  12. My husband has been mixing it with a bit of apple juice for his reflux. He swears by it. I used ACV on a bug bite and it did stop the itching.

    ReplyDelete
  13. What about toenail fungus? Has anyone tried it and does it really work? If so, how would one go about it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Mix it 50/50 with water and soak. Do this everyday for 30 minutes until fungus is gone. I have not tried this but I'm sure it would work as ACV is anti-fungal and powerful. Let us know if you try it!

      Delete
    2. I had a toenail that had a pretty nasty fungus. I put some ACV in a spray bottle, set it next to my chair and every night I sprayed my toe being sure it got under the end of the nail.....it worked! And I had had that fungus for a long long time. It's so nice to have a nail that looks norma. Now, this is a long going thing--the fungus didn't appear overnight either-- so be patient, use it at least once a day and watch the results.

      Delete
    3. I cosign its effectiveness on toenail fungus. Since adding it to my diet, AND topically, I have seen my nail bed finally growing out pink as my nail grows out!! Keep your nails short so it can effectively reach the infected part of the nail bed. It works! But you will have to be patient. It seems that the double-teaming the fungus from both in and out has worked great.

    1. Definately ask your OBG-YN. However I doubt very much that they'll have the answer. Personally I would drink it once a day 3 times a week. Not only is it a light detox that won't overbear your system but it will keep you from getting the common cold and flus and such. Having any kind of illness while preggo is the pits.

      Delete
    2. Not safe. It's unpasteurized and that can cause major complications

      Delete
  15. I used it on my son's wart on his foot and in one week it dissolved away and is gone! Two other friends have now tried it with the same results.
It also works for a sore throat, ie..strep!

  16. Is it ok to take 2 tablespoons straight up with no water three times a day? For weight loss?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi. Yes you can take it straight up. It may burn a bit though. I don't recommend that. Plus it has an extremely strong taste!

      Delete
    2. I have tired it straight up and I felt like I had taken a shot of whiskey it burned all the way down.

      Delete
    3. Its very dangerous to take alone. It can highly damage your esophagus. Always take with water.

      Delete
    4. It is not recommended to take straight as it is very hard on tooth enamel too.

      Delete
  17. Does it have to be the oraganic Braggs or can u just use any kind of ACV?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It MUST be organic (with the mother) in order to get the best effect. This is because of the properties in "the mother" that make the ACV do the job it's supposed to do. It doesn't have to be Braggs brand but I don't know of another organic ACV on the market. If you find another organic containing "the mother" it should be fine. :)

      Delete
    2. oh ok..thanks for the info i will get some braggs then..I have kroger brand ACV now..My mother and father in law got my husband and i on what they named "THE COWBOY DRINK" lol we just do 1 Tablespoon ACV and 1 Tablespoon lemon juice with some water for 1 month then after a month 2 tablespoons each..

      Delete
    3. Hey that's sound good! I've added lemon juice to my recipe before too. Yummo! "Cowboy Drink"...love that!

      Delete
  18. ok! maybe i missed something, or maybe this is a stupid question... what is "the mother"?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Nah, no such thing as a stupid question! It's the part of the ACV that is the living nutrients, enzymes and bacteria that benefit you. You can see it floating around or settled in the bottom of the bottle. Give a good shake and drink up!

  19. Will it be ok to use while breastfeeding? I wouldn't want to detox anything and send it to my milk supply???

    1. I'm not a doctor so I really can't give medical advice. However, personally I would take it every once in awhile, especially if I had a cold coming on or some infection going on. It would be better than being on anti-biotics while nursing. I don't think it would do any harm if taken in moderation when needed.

    2. My midwife recommended drinking a shot size amount everyday to ward of mastitis. After having mastitis with two other children I was willing to do anything to not get it with my third. It totally worked. Not the funnest thing to drink, but it was well worth it! After a few months I stopped taking it daily, and started to feel the symptoms of mastitis coming...I quickly started taking ACV and instantly felt the infection leaving! Such good stuff!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks so much Alex! That's awesome you drink it everyday!

      Delete
  21. Thanks for the great info, Amber! I have two questions regarding the drink. I've been using hot (boiling) water to help dissolve the honey, but does that harm the beneficial properties of the ACV? Is honey used only as a sweetener or is it specific to this healing combination (I've been thinking of using stevia)?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey Bob! Yes, don't use boiling water. Use room temp water. The honey will melt in a few minutes and dissolve. Honey is a sweetner but if you use RAW honey it has many added benefits as well. You can use Stevia but honey is much healthier. :)

  23. You can also use it when BBQ'ing chicken. Put in spray bottle and spray chicken while on the grill. Keeps chicken moist while on the grill and gives it a good taste too. I also drink It every day :)

  24. Just got a nasty ringworm infection on my arm and small spot on leg... GROSSSSSS. was freaking out and doubting the cream I bought at CVS so I was so relieved when I saw online that I can used ACV to help rid this nasty fungus!! Tried it tonight for the first time and its totally making a difference. Went ahead and put 100% ACV on paper towel and held it on the spots for a few minutes. Hopefully it'll speed up the healing process.

I also try to drink daily!

If you want a yummy refreshing drink try Pineapple juice+ACV+lime juice+honey!! YUM!!! I can't always stomach the straight ACV or ACV+water in the morning.

Also didnt know about the kidney stone dissolving! Yet another reason to keep drinking!!

  25. Been doing this for over a week , but very bloated ., anyone else experience this .. Is that normal??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I didn't experience this however it is an appetite suppressant in the sence that it makes you feel full but bloated is different. It could actually be just a symptom of detox. If I were you I would up my water intake by a lot to flush out the bloating which is likely due to toxins in your body being moved around and not having enough fluid to flush them out. Just my guess. Let me know if that helps!

  29. I have heard if you drink it often it can wear away the enamel on your teeth. Has anyone experienced that problem? What do you do to avoid this?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Have not experienced it but it is very acidic. You can avoid this by drinking it with water and rinsing mouth afterwards.

      Delete
    2. I was thinking that ACV is not acidic, as it can help with acid reflux, from what I have been reading here. I would think it would be alkaline as opposed to acidic.

I guess that an acid can be either alkaline or acidic, depending on the pH. Wonder what the pH of it is.

      Delete
    3. Actually I believe the reason why it helps with acid reflux is because of the acidity. Acid reflux is actually a condition of having too little acid in your stomach. However, the genius thing about ACV is that the way the body processes it through digestion. It turns it into something called "ash" and causes our body's pH to become more akaline. Same principle as citris fruit. Although they are acidic, the body processes it in such a way that forms akalinity.

      Delete
    4. Drinking it through a straw will help minimize any effect on your tooth enamel.

      Delete
    5. The pH of various food items (such as citrus fruits) changes once INSIDE the body. Foods such as oranges/lemons/limes are highly acidic when sitting on your kitchen counter but become basic (alkaline) once inside your stomach. Foods are classified as "alkaline-forming" or "acidic-forming" based on the type of minerals they produce for the body during digestion.

During digestion, if a food’s ashes result in mostly acidic residues (such as sulfur or phosphorus), then the food is considered "acid-forming". If if results in primarily alkaline substances (ex: calcium, potassium or magnesium), then it is considered "alkaline-forming".

Therefore, the pH level of the food really doesn't correlate to how it behaves once inside of your body :) This can get confusing for many people! My parents are doctors and even I was confused by this at first!

  30. Will ACV work on mouth sores?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm not sure. Seems like it would burn like the dickens. If it's a bacterial infection it might help actually. I would try coconut oil instead though for mouth sores. Much more gentle and has a lot of the same properties as far as anti-bacterial/viral/fungal.

      Delete
  31. I recently got "Solana Gold" ACV, raw and unfiltered, made with the veil of the mother. I guess that's the same as Braggs, right? stuff is sunk to the bottom.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, if it has the mother, it's got the good stuff! However, I don't know if that brand is organic or not. That's important too but I'd say not as important as having the mother in it.

      Delete
  32. I have been using White House brand ACV for my chronic heartburn. It has worked for me so far.It says "all natural" and the ingredients say only apple cider vinegar and water.Am I still getting the other benefits that have been talked about?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi there. If it doesn't say 'with the mother' on the bottle somewhere, you are not getting the living enzymes that are so helpful to the human body. It will def still work for heartburn because it is adding acid to your stomach but it won't do all the other great things that living enzymes do for us.

  33. My mom swears it works in place of antibiotics for sinus infections. Have you had any experience with this? I really don't like some of the side affects of antibiotics.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh yes! It helps sore throat and can definately work in place of antibiotics. Of course I'm not a doctor but I would def try ACV before going on antibiotics. ACV is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal. It is a natural antibiotic! It is wonderful for sore throats, sinus infections and the like.

      Delete
    2. I can speak to this. As a sufferer of chronic sinus infections, I found myself taking antibiotics way way too often. The first time I tried the ACV with veggie juice or fruit juice, I saw immediate results. My sore throat was completely gone in two days; my drainage had cleared up as well. Since then, I take it daily. My 87-year-old grandfather swears by it as well!

    3. I gotta tru this..suffer from sinusitis a lot and to boot..both my kids have allergies!

  34. I notice that the comments seem to be all positive comments and there doesn't seem to be any negative comments. After searching the Net on the subject of ACV I find there is just has much negative things about ACV and that people drinking it should also know the dangers which can occur.
I just wanted to point this out. After all said and done I will give it a try and see what happens.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As with most anything, there are pros and cons. ACV is much like medicine/drugs. However, it is completely natural and not liver toxic like pharmaceuticals. It actually helps detox the liver. I would have to argue there are a lot more postive uses for ACV than negative effects. Mostly, people just need to be careful with taking it undiluted and too much for too long or perhaps if they have an ulcer. I think it would take a heck of a lot to overdue it but as with most everything, moderation is usually the safest. Use your best judgement for your own body. Try to be in tune with your body when using ACV. :)

      Delete
  35. Someone asked about sinus infections.... And YES! I had an awful sinus infection for about a week and refused to go to the doctor. Antibiotics aren't good for you in the long run. I put two tablespoons of ACV in 8 ounces of water. Chugged and it and BAM! I could feel sinus pressure start to go down. I woke up that next day and could already breathe through my nose. I swear by ACV!

  36. I live in California, any recommended stores? So it's once or twice a day, daily for 2 weeks, 2 weeks off and then 3/4 times daily forever or off and on weekly schedules?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Any health food store will most likely carry Braggs, organic ACV. Whole Foods or Trader Joes will carry it too. 3-4X a week forever. If you start to feel strange just cut back. Listen to what your body is telling you. However, don't be too afraid if you experience nausea upon first week of use. This could be a symptom of detox. Just cut dosage back to what you think would be tolerable for you. Don't be afraid to experiment or change it up.

  38. Can you drink it if you are pregnant and can 1 year olds drink it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think it's mild enough to drink while pregnant. Perhaps not everyday. Maybe a couple times a week since it actually is a detox. You don't necessarily want to move around toxins while pregnant. However, I would do some research if I were you. Perhaps call a holistic doctor.

One year old?? Hmm?? I don't really know. I know I gave it to my daughter when she was around 18 months old so you'll just have to use your best parental judgement based on your child. Maybe make a weak drink and let them try it. My daughter is now 2 years old and I give it to her twice a day anytime she shows any signs of illness like a runny nose or cough. She loves it and calls it juice! She has NEVER (knock on wood) gotten as sick as the kids around her who she caught the illness from. It's remarkable!

    1. You can drink 1 or 2 cups a day. If you are fighting illness, prob try and drink 2 cups a day, even three until you are better. Then go ahead and cut back to 1 or 2 cups a day. It's whatever you feel. You don't want to drink too much of anything I don't think but it's relatively harmless unless you are on blood thinners or blood pressure meds. ACV in combo with BP meds can cause BP to drop too much but guess what that means??!! You can probably get off your BP meds and use ACV to keep your BP lower! Okay, done with my rant now. Check with a doctor to anyone reading this. :)

    1. Absolutely Jennifer! I give it to my 2 year old any time she shows signs of illness coming on. Or if I am going somewhere new just in case she's exposed to anything. It will work WONDERS for sinus infections. Also, buy local honey and this will help allergies as well as other health benefits. Tell ur child it's juice. My daughter asks for it now! She likes it more than her almond milk! Please let me know how it works out for you and your child.

    2. My son suffered from seasonal allergies since he was a little boy (he is now 12 years old). Every six months, or so, he would have a horrible cough and watery eyes. About a year ago I gave him 2 tablespoons of ACV with 8 ounces of orange juice daily for 1 week. Since then he has not had the horrible cough or watery eyes. The orange juice helps mask the taste. He is a very fussy kids so he won't even try the ACV in water.

  46. Can enough be mixed ahead of time, say for a week, and stored in the refrigerator?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is a fantastic question! Hmmmm? I don't see why not other than the honey not mixing in because of the cold temp and then you'd have it all sitting at the bottom of the jug or whatever. You could surly mix the ACV with water preportions and then add honey to each serving if you find mixing honey ahead of time doesn't work out well. Please let me know! Why this has not occurred to me, I'll never know! :)

  47. I started having a dandruff and terribly dry/itchy scalp problem a few years ago, I went to a GP and nothing she gave me worked so I then went to a dermatologist and the stuff he gave me did not work either. I googled home remedies and found apple cidar vinegar tried it and it completely got rid of the problem and I have not any problems since. I just put some on a cotton swab and put it on the itchy spots before bed every night and washed my hair with it before shampooing once a week. It also makes your hair very shiny!
Another good use: Fruit fly traps ;)

    1. Yep! Used it on my scalp too and it took away all the buildup and made my hair less oily at roots and smooth at the bottoms. It balances pH of skin, that's the miracle of it!

  48. ACV really is an amazing remedy! It has done wonders for cramps, completely cured my reflux, and stops a headache almost instantly! Has anyone had success topically treating their acne? I've tried a few times an it appeared to worsen my skin. Not sure if this was just my skin "purging" or not because I never stuck with it.

    1. I've never used it for acne but I'm sure it does purge the skin and then it balances. I use witch hazel. Does the same thing. I didn't know it worked for cramps! I'll have to try that.

    2. Adding to ACV to my diet has almost completely cleared up my acne. I have pretty sensitive skin so I've tried to stay away from using it directly on the skin. It seems to be working from the inside out! Just keep your skin clean and moisturized- it worked for me!

    3. I thought I would share my experience with ACV and acne since this is how I found ACV.
      Daily routine:
      1) Wash face with Baking Soda - Apply 1 teaspoon of baking soda on a damp washcloth, I use a Clarison brush instead of a washcloth, but the brush is expensive. Add a few drops of water to the baking soda to make it more like a paste. Rub baking soda all over face, apply a little pressure. Rinse face with cool water.
      2) Make a 50/50 mixture of ACV and water. I mix 2 tablespoons of ACV with 2 tablespoons of water and put it in a dark bottle (which I bought in a Whole Foods store). This mixture will last me about 2 weeks. Apply the 50/50 mixture to your face with a cotton ball. Do not wash off. It smells bad, but once dried the smell will go away. Some people add essetial oils to mask the smell, but any kind of oils in my face makes me breakout.
      3) Apply a light moisturizer to you face (I use an organic one I found at Trader Joe's with SPF)
Whenever I get a breakout, which is very rare now, I apply organic aloe vera juice and leave overnight. Wash your face with the baking soda first so you have a clean face. This routine has been my miracle.

    1. I'm not really sure. I would think a cause of migraines might be a need to detox your body and I know ACV helps with that but I can't be sure that's your issue. I've read that ACV is used for treatment of headaches but I'm thinking probably sinus headaches if anything. I've never used for headache. Not sure. Sorry. Good luck!

    1. Being preggo makes things so different. If anything I would take same recipe but in moderation. Maybe once a day but only 3 times a week. There are good minerals and stuff in ACV and it won't detox you too much with taking just that little bit. Do some more research about it. Ask your doc but my opinion is just in moderation it'd most likely be just fine.

Let it sit on there while you finish up in shower then wash hair twice like normal. Hope this helps! Hope you can find Braggs in Nairobi but if not I bet any ACV will work to balance pH of your scalp!

will keep you posted on how it is doing

    3. Absolutely my pleasure trying to help.

I'm glad you brought up diabetes. Perhaps talk with a naturopathic doctor about juice fast. It can actually reverse your diabetes. You could also eat raw food for 30 days or more to reverse diabetes and detox. This only works though if you're type 2. Type 1 is irreversable as far as I know. You must find a healthy way to detox under supervision of a good naturopathic doctor. Most of your ailments are likely to lesson if you "reboot" your body systems with a detox.

And yes, please let me know how this helps you!

    1. Keep it on your hair overnight?? I'm not sure. I've never tried that and to be honest I probably wouldn't. Just try it in moderation as I directed before and see if this helps the problem. If it doesn't, try doing it two days in a row. If still no change at all I would consider putting coconut oil on your scalp overnight before ACV. If you have fungus on your scalp which is sorta what I'm thinking it might be, coconut oil is anti-fungal and in combo with ACV's pH balancing properties it might be just the ticket. Please let me know if this works for you.

    1. It may work to break down gallstones. But there is another remedy that works for gallstones effectively. Olive oil, grapefruit juice, and epsom salt I believe. You can prob find a recipe and instructional on google or youtube. My friend and her boyfriend did this and expelled hundreds of stones!!! I wish I would have known about it before I let a surgeon take my gallbladder. UGH! See my post about coffee enemas. They can help produce more bile and flush liver which is where stones are created in the first place.

  62. Hi Amber!

I knew there were tons of health benefits of ACV, but I didnt know that it could prevent stomach illness.

Amber- I was wondering if, specifically, that it referring to the prevention of- stomach flu? 24 hour flu?
If this is the case, could I ask where you sourced this information?

    This is so interesting.

I will never NOT have ACV in my home!!!

    Thanks,

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Sarah. ACV is not scientifically tested to my knowledge. It is a home remedy. In other words, most evidence is anecdotal. I have my own personal story of ACV preventing the stomach flu in my home which turned me into a big believer. It will help with influenza (colds) too. You can read many stories on earthclinic.com. Although there are no scientific tests that I know of, we can use a bit of common sense. ACV is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal. When you drink it, those enzymes, nutrients, and minerals are instantly absorbed into the bloodstream, going to work fighting bacteria, viruses, and fungus. Also, the way in which the body metabolizes ACV it balances the body's pH and makes your internal environment very hard for bacteria and such to live and thrive in. Thus, it’s a great preventative for stomach flu and all kinds of other illnesses. :)

Perhaps you can help me! I'm at my wit's end!
My husband takes 14 pills a day! YIKES...he has type 2 diabetes, allergies and reflux/acid problems. He is usually nauseaus or throwing up most mornings! This sets him back 2-3 hours and he feels tired and just not good.
I have to add...he is a 70 yrs old and will not exercise but the medicines are not helping. The doctor says he's sick to his stomach because of the drainage from the allergies that are so bad. Thank you for your consideration.

    1. I thought I replied to this earlier. I'm sorry. All those pills, no thanks! I would be in contact with a more natural minded doctor ASAP to get him off those pills. In his situation I cannot give much help. Anyone on that many pills is on drugs and needs help to get off and detox from a professional doctor that can actively monitor. ACV can be dangerous for anyone taking blood thinners as well. I wish I could help more. My only help would again be to get him to a holistic, natural minded doctor. Make it clear you want him off the pills. Talk to that doc about ACV, coffee enemas, and detox. I would start juicing for the man though. He can drink fresh juice at least in the morning to help flush out all the meds and give some nutrition. Juicing too much can affect medication as well. He cannot be afraid to experiment but he cannot be too quick about this sort of thing either.

  65. Don't know if this will help much, but being a nurse, have someone other than your doctor (or do your own research) to check for compatibility of all those pills. He could feel this way due to pills reacting with each other in a negative way. Doctors should be aware of this, but they are so busy. Have someone else look into this. Just a thought dealing with 14 pills. Hopefully you can also try the ACV. Hope it gets better.

    1. I'm glad you asked. My daughter is 2.5. She gets about a tablespoon a day. She calls it juice and asks for it. I don't give it to her unless she asks. If she seems to be coming down with something though I will give it to her a couple times a day which would be about 2 tbsp. a day until symptoms reside. She'll sometimes goes a week or two with none at all. I try to go with my gut on this. I don't wanna give her too much. And yes, you could mix with juice. And yes, you could use as preventative. If your child is in daycare or going somewhere where it could be germy, I would give every day or every couple days.

    1. Yes, you can do it two weeks on two weeks off the rest of your life. The 2 weeks on you would drink 2 tblsp. 1-2X a day. So maybe a glass in morning and/or night. This is not the schedule I keep only because I'm not so great at keeping up with it. I actually have only been drinking when I feel I'm coming down with illness. My daughter drinks it on the regular though and she has NEVER been to doctor. 2 and a half and around other kids. I think ACV keeps her from falling as ill as other kids tend to get. Hope this helps. :) And thank you for compliment!

    1. Girl...You gotta get to a natural doctor like YESTERDAY! Talk to him/her about raw food and/or different diet, detox i.e. heavey metal chelation, liver and kidney detox, etc. Juice fasting may be good for you. ACV will not cure you of all of these problems. ACV is a light detox and only a part of an overall lifestyle that can aide your health. You may be allergic to foods your eating. Need to stay away from perservatives all together. Cut out ALL junk. Eat less animal products. More fruits and veggies obviously. Lots of water. Coffee enemas perhaps to rapidly release toxins from liver and colin. You have a lot going on for your age. You need a complete and utter reboot of your system. Also, I supsect you have some negative beliefs about your body and health because of your family's history. Throw that out too! You are alive, young, vibrant, healthy. Say these things whether you feel it or not. If you want to be healthy bad enough the answers will show up ALL OVER THE PLACE for you. Watch a documentary on Netflix called "Food Matters". This changed my life and knowledge about health and it has been an journey ever since. Good luck and God bless! Email me if you want. :)

    1. No medical doctor will advise you take ACV with blood thinners. However, If you want to find a natural way to get off the pharm drugs then perhaps see a naturalpathic doctor and discuss desire to take ACV to thin blood rather than pills. I would not advise taking ACV with blood thinners or trying to get off pills without a good natural doctor to monitor this. Also, seriously consider your diet. If you are eating typical American diet no amount of ACV or pharm drugs will help you. You must lose weight at 5'2". You can do this! Watch documentary "Food Matters" or "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" on Netflix for a good motivational tool to get on the right health track! :) Much love and good luck! Keep us posted if you try anything with the ACV and how it works for you.

It should clear up on it's own with proper hydration and massage. If it doesn't clear up or gets worse after a week or more I might see doctor.

It burned going down, so I'm not sure if it's going to help with cutting down acid, but I'd like to give it a try. I'm 27 and have been on Prilosec for about 15 years. I would love to be able to go off medication, but it's so bad that I can't go without it. Today I'm going to mix the ACV with honey and water and see how that works. I have cut out coffee and caffeine, major offenders of reflux, out of my diet, along with other acidic foods already, per doctor's suggestion. Hoping this helps. 1. Taking ACV while on blood thinners is not a good idea because of the blood thinning properties in ACV. That's probably why you felt funny. Since you are off the blood thinners perhaps you could try ACV again and see how you feel. Do it moderately and slowly. If you feel fine, up the dose. Remember, I am no doctor. Just my opinion.
